Weight gain bothers all; weight loss is achieved by few. Why is there a gap here?
A number of reasons can be held accountable for this.
Metabolism is one of the many factors that is not taken into account during weight loss.
While we all equate vigorous training and sparse eating to losing weight, we forget the core biological mechanism that regulates weight in a human being. It is called metabolism.
Metabolism and weight go hand in hand. Of the different ways our body burns calories, basal metabolic rate is one; this is the energy required to keep the body functioning at rest. If you have a higher metabolism you will burn more calories and hence your weight will be in control. If you have a lower metabolism you may not burn enough calories.

“How fast your body’s “engine” runs on average, over time, determines how many calories you burn. If your metabolism is “high” (or fast), you will burn more calories at rest and during activity. A high metabolism means you’ll need to take in more calories to maintain your weight. That’s one reason why some people can eat more than others without gaining weight. A person with a “low” (or slow) metabolism will burn fewer calories at rest and during activity and therefore has to eat less to avoid becoming overweight,” says a Harvard Medical School report.

There are three different body types based on metabolic rates. This will help an individual to understand the root cause of weight issue and will guide them towards a tailor-made weight loss plan.

This body type has a higher percentage of body fat and less muscle mass. People with this body type have a slower metabolism which means their body does not burn calories sufficiently which converts into fat.

In order to manage weight, which these people put on easily, intake of carbohydrates should be limited. Foods like white bread, white rice, pasta, cakes, pastries and cookies should be avoided. Health experts suggest these people should portion control their meals and should eat close to 400 calories less in order to cut down weight gain risk.
Endomorphs should always put in more effort in the gym. Cardio and strength training coupled with other exercises as suggested by the fitness trainer will work wonders on this body type.
These are the naturally slim body types which have the highest metabolic rates. These individuals are characterised by small bone structure, small shoulders, lean muscle mass, and flat chest. People with this body type find it extremely difficult to gain weight and have a faster metabolism.
Health experts recommend these individuals to consume more calories (up by 600 calories from normal recommendation) and carbohydrates. These individuals should eat more protein like turkey, chicken, lean steak, eggs, protein shakes, and fish.
Those who want a bulky look should do those workouts which are short and intense and work on big muscles of the body.
This body type has a muscular build. Here the metabolism is slower than that of ectomorphs but on a faster side when compared to endomorphs. Since they too are prone to adding on weight, they are suggested to keep the calorie intake on check.

These body types are characterized by muscular chest and shoulders, large heart, round arms and legs.
Experts recommend these people to have more protein; a person with a mesomorph body type should have protein equal to one third of the plate. Fruits, vegetables should be another important part of the food plate for these individuals. Carbohydrates and fats should be eaten in moderation.
For workout, people with this body type should always opt for low intensity cardios.
Knowing your body type can direct you in the right course to attain weight loss goals. Blindly following a celebrity or some fad diet will not help you much. No two body types are similar and therefore no diet pattern will work the same on different body types.

It is essential to know your body type, take guidance from fitness trainers and workout under the supervision of experts.
