A video posted to Facebook by an Indiana animal shelter captivated the hearts of many, as it showed a dog happily waiting in his room as he watched dozens of potential adopters go by without getting adopted.
The Humane Society for Hamilton County, located in Fishers, Indiana, posted the video of Rocky to its Facebook page on March 20.
In March, the humane society said Rocky had been waiting for his forever home for a year now and shelter staff did not understand why he was still there. He is a 6-year-old Terrier, American pit bull/mix.
In the video the humane society shared of Rocky, which you can view in the video player above, you can see Rocky peering out of a glass door as guests of the shelter walk by.
Many of them walk on by Rocky.
The Humane Society for Hamilton County said Ricky’s long-term foster family made a donation toward continuing training for Rocky so he can be the best dog possible for a family.
According to the shelter, Rocky is best-suited in a home with people over the age of 16 and to be the only pet in the home, shelter staff said. They said he is an easy-going, affectionate dog and loves people. He loves treats, stuffed animals, car rides and cuddling under the covers.
Despite the Humane Society for Hamilton County’s video of Rocky going viral on Facebook, getting thousands of likes and shares, the humane society provided an update on March 22 saying they had some sad news.
“Rocky so far has not even had a single person come and visit him. He has some people fill out applications but not a single person has come into the shelter to see him yet and honestly, we don’t know why. He’s such a good boy,” a shelter worker said. “Honestly all he needs is someone to love him and cuddle him.”
A month later, in late April, Rocky remained at the shelter. The humane society responded to someone’s comment during this time saying: “Rocky is still waiting for his perfect person to come along.”
On April 30, the Humane Society for Hamilton County provided an update saying Rocky went on an extended sleepover with someone interested in adopting him. Then on Friday, the humane society posted a photo of Rocky among other dogs that had found their forever family.
Rocky’s adoption was finalized and he is now happy at home with his humans.
